A Year of Poems – Day 235

Castigate the reprobate
The lying, sinner who hates the poor
Who gathers food into his stores
While his neighbors scratch at sores
Who leaves his love for passing flings
Or trades his children for a dream
Of money, travel, fame or schemes
Which bring his life and hinder theirs.
Castigate but do not hate
Lest you become a hypocrite.
