A Year of Poems – Day 178

Eternity stretches like a body,
Lithe and ready for a race.
It bursts forth like a swimmer,
Kicking off from the gate.
You cannot trace its arcing path,
It lurks beneath the surface
Waiting to spring forth
Shimmering like water caught
Between the sky and a blade of grass.
What that means I cannot know,
But it will last forever.
