A Year of Poems – Day 26

Embedded in every text
shrouded in verbiage
peeking out from the verdant bushes
or cowering behind the cold
curtain of a waterfall

is a print

Only partially inked
pressed with variable pressure
but present even beneath these words
no two are alike
different even from the stamp

Press a leaf with ink
the lines flip
do it again
different veins catch the ink

a mirror never truly shows a soul
but when you have never seen yourself
a mirrored print must suffice
